My study programme: Architecture
Hello guys!
As I have told
you in other blogs, I am studying Architecture at the University of Chile, the
degree has had several changes in the subject of the mesh, in 2016 several
subjects were changed and specialty electives were added to the training,
something which in my opinion is fine, what I didn't like is that in 2022 they
lowered the number of hours of these subjects to avoid the academic load
problems that the degree has, but in this way the electives have fewer hours
and it is spent less material and some teachers leave many tasks outside the
classroom, which increases mental health problems.
I think it would
be very helpful for new generations to be taught BIM programs from an early
stage in their degree since currently there are only a few branches that teach
it (mainly electives), in addition to being few hours and for few students,
which causes the studies to be inequitable.
Regarding the
academic load, I think it is very difficult to change the mentality that
workshop is the most important, the good thing is that more and more teachers
are aware that we have more subjects than “just workshop”.
I think that the
faculty is very backward in terms of infrastructure (comical being a faculty of
architecture), it is understood that being a heritage building it must have
certain care, but much is missing in that area, from something basic like
heating to specialized machinery which are not enough for the number of
students.
The teaching
methods of the old professors are “questionable” but some are effective, I
think that hard work is important in this career, but it is essential to get
rid of the cruelty of some of its professors from the university, I cannot
believe that they are still destroyed models or thrown out the window.
In conclusion, I
believe that the university is made up of all its members and that we must work
to make it a safe environment, physically and mentally.
See you soon
I agree with you, we need better improvements for our mental and physical health, enhance the overall well-being of students, by creating a healthier and more productive learning and working environment.
ResponderEliminarI agree with what you say, the mental health factor is important and should not be neglected.
ResponderEliminarI agree that more and more the idea that "workshop" is the most important thing is gone, probably not all of us are interested in working in design in the future and we should focus on other areas.
